Teresita Valdes-Arciniega, DVM, MS, is a third-year PhD student at the Cengiz Laboratory, Department of Pediatrics, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Originally from Mexico, Teresita earned her veterinary sciences degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she gained valuable experience in reproductive hormone physiology. During her master’s program at University of Wisconsin Madison, she focused on the effects of reproductive hormones on hypothalamic and pituitary responses, laying a strong foundation for her current research. At the Cengiz Lab, Teresita is dedicated to addressing the critical need for effective long-term therapies to improve outcomes for newborns affected by hypoxia-ischemia (HI). She is passionate about advancing the field of neuroendocrinology and improving the lives of newborns facing these critical challenges.
