Jennifer Grage, MD is a pediatric critical care fellow at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the same institution, where she was twice recognized as Outstanding Resident Teacher and received the Residency QI Research Award. Dr. Grage earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Grage’s clinical and academic interests center on critically ill children, with a particular focus on improving outcomes in pediatric septic shock. She is currently leading a large-scale, retrospective study using target trial emulation methods to evaluate the effectiveness of first-line vasoactive agents in septic shock, supported by the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute. Her research includes the use of advanced statistical techniques such as propensity score matching and inverse probability treatment weighting.
An engaged educator, Dr. Grage has led numerous resident and fellow teaching initiatives, including critical care lectures, simulation training, and case conferences. She has also contributed to medical student education and community mentorship programs, including TeenDoc for underrepresented youth in Chicago.
In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Grage has presented at local and institutional conferences and has authored peer-reviewed publications and textbook contributions. She currently serves on the Acute Liver Failure Clinical Guidelines Committee at Lurie Children’s and is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
