Resident Physician
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine
Dr. Candace "Candy" Cote, MD, is a 3rd year pediatric resident at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children's Hospital. With a focus on whole-person care, she believes that the foundation of good medicine lies in truly knowing patients—their stories, their families, and the unique challenges they face. A strong proponent of thoughtful, thorough history-taking, Dr.Cote emphasizes listening as one of the most powerful tools in medicine. She teaches and models the importance of asking the right questions—not just for making the right diagnosis, but for building trust that supports long-term health.
At Arkansas Children's Hospital, this curosity has lead her to find a variety of patients with unique diagnoses and equally as challenging presentations. While her calling is primary care, Dr. Cote's reserach intrests have followed her diverse patient population and include cases of scurvy, as presented here, congenital hemangiomas, neonatal air embolisms, and hypoglycemia.
Outside of work, Dr. Cote enjoys swimming, reading, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. She loves spending time with friends and family, and often combines that quality time with travel—especially to zoos and aquariums across the country.
After graduation, she plans to follow her passion for serving rural communities in her home state of Kansas. Dr. Cote is currently exploring opportunities where she can continue to build long-term relationships with patients, advocate for preventive pediatric care, and be part of a team that values connection, curiosity, and community-focused medicine.
