Yigit Cengiz Erkus is a medical doctor who graduated from University of Health Sciences in Turkey in 2023. Currently, he works as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cengiz Laboratory at University of Wisconsin-Madison. His primary research focuses on the developmental trajectory of hippocampal interneurons along with sex- and cell type-specific expression patterns of the Ntrk2 gene, which encodes the TrkB receptor. In addition to his basic science work, he is involved in a translational research study evaluating ventilation strategies during pediatric cardiac arrest using a swine model. His long-term goal is to continue his medical career in the United States as a pediatrician-scientist.
