Sean Walulik is a second-year MSTP student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM). During his undergraduate work at Xavier University, Walulik began his work studying epigenetics and chromatin assembly in acute myeloid leukemia and has focused on developing a novel therapeutic approach to overcoming cell plasticity and drug resistance in response to therapy. This work has inspired a deep interest in translational work which continues to be his focus during his time at UCCOM.
Olivia Gittens is a second-year MSTP student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. During her undergraduate years at the University of Cincinnati, she conducted clinical and laboratory research in the fields of human genetics and immunology, respectively. She is particularly interested in working with children with disabilities through the field of clinical genetics wherein she can holistically care for and advocate for patients with genetic conditions.
Nathan Stewart is a second-year MSTP student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM). As an undergraduate student at The University of Pennsylvania, Stewart developed a strong background in biochemistry and biophysics through his Bachelor’s training, as well as his structural biology and thermodynamics research on the HIV-1 integrase protein. These experiences led to his interest in bench-to-bedside research that can have a direct and positive impact on patient outcomes. While at UCCOM, he has rotated in labs interested in HIV virology, which also amplified his interests in how genetics can guide and impact patient care.
