Medical Student
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
First year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health interested in bridging basic science research with clinical translation to address unmet needs in rare and undiagnosed diseases in addition to advancing patient disease treatment. My background is rooted in genetics and genomics with specific training in stem cell biology, mitochondrial physiology, and next generation ‘omics. My research has focused on modeling of ultra-rare mitochondrial diseases and their effects in neurodevelopment utilizing patient-derived stem cells to differentiate into cortical neurons. I aim to perform translational research that leverages stem cell-based modeling and multi-omics approaches to uncover disease mechanisms in rare pediatric disorders to improve patient care. Beyond the bench, I am deeply committed to rare disease advocacy and health policy reform. As an advocate in Rare Disease Week on Capitol Hill, I engaged directly with legislators to promote equitable access to care.
